Art Project with Inner City Angels artists on Wed and Thurs AM

FYI - we will be participating in the Parent Council sponsored art workshop on Wed AM and Thurs AM. Please send an extra shirt to school in case we get paint on clothing. And, students who have not handed in their photo release form, please bring a note to school that you are allowed to be in a photo; or send a note saying that you do not want your child in a photo.

Science Diorama Checklist

Habitat Diorama 

Due Date: Nov 29th is our Science Diorama Openhouse, please present anytime before this date. 

• Each student will create a diorama (a scenic representation in which sculpted figures and lifelike details are displayed) showing their selected habitat. To create the diorama project, a shoe box or other small box may be used as the space for the diorama. The box should not be bigger than an adult sized shoebox. Students may use plastic figures or mold items from clay to represent animals, plants, and objects in their projects. Materials such as magazines (for photos), silk or plastic plants, popsicle sticks, toothpicks, glue, construction paper, and other craft items may be used. Be as eco-friendly as possible!Creativity is encouraged! 

You will be creating a diorama of a habitat of your choice: 

• Ocean
• Desert
• Forest 
• Rainforest (amazon, temperate, etc)
• Polar (arctic) 

In your diorama, you should include all of the following: 

(Please check off all of the items as you complete your project) 

You need to cover the inside of your box using paper or paint. This should reflect the habitat that you chose. For example, an ocean habitat would have a blue background to represent water. 

 Write your name and the habitat you chose on the back of the box 

 At least two animals that live in this habitat 

 At least two plants that live in this habitat 

 Label the items in your habitat 

 On the back of the shoebox, using an index card, describe your habitat by answering the following questions:
- Why did you choose this habitat?
- What types of plants and animals live in this habitat?                                        

- What is the environment of this habitat like? 

After completing the project, you will present your project to the rest of the class. Be prepared to describe your habitat and explain your work.

FYI - sorry...yet another photo release for permission to take photos during our art workshop  with Inner City Angels artists. This is a specially selected art group sponsored by the Parent Council for all Grade 4 and Grade 5 students at Wilkinson this year.

Photo Release Form for Queen’s Park

If you haven’t received the form, please send a note that your child is allowed to be in a group photo at Queen’s Park.  They have a professional photographer there to take a class picture in the front foyer for visiting classes. I’ll print off a class set for each student as a souvenir.
